A Quick update

I am currently preparing the next post which is going to be a Tech Talk on Room and Pillar Mining, and then we will get back to discussing the Gulf Oil spill and other matters relating to oil and fossil fuel production and use for the rest of the week.

Just to update on where the Gulf situation stands
For the last 12 hours on June 12 (noon to midnight), approximately 7,470 barrels of oil were collected and 17.1 million cubic feet of natural gas were flared.

• On June 12, a total of approximately 15,040 barrels of oil were collected and 32.9 million cubic feet of natural gas were flared.

• Total oil collected since the LMRP Cap containment system was implemented is approximately 119,300 barrels.

• Operations were stable.

• Subsea operations for the long term containment option are progressing; the suction pile was installed and the new manifold is on the sea floor.
I gather that means that the next post or two will have to cover the suction pile.

As for Katla, there were four more minor earthquakes along the fracture lines visible in the last picture I showed, in the past 24 hours.
